Objectives

Introduce the students to Surgical Specialities by living the everyday routine of the specialized units, and participating in their basic routines.

 

By the end of the rotation each student should have caught the spirit and the fields of action of that particular speciality. Also prepare himself for future professional choices.

Teaching method

  • Rotations for “Surgical Specialities” comprise groups of maximum 8 students in each Unit, lasting for a week. 

 

  • To both, Students and Tutors, a common working tool will be provided (downloaded from the discipline web page), to guide their rotation and to register any contact activities that they might have participated or performed ("Log - Book").

 

  • Students should have a devoted area to work and computer / internet access and should never feel they are on their own.

 

  • From direct contact with tutors will result a practical evaluation (0 to 20 points) that will be contribute to the final classification, when combined with the final multiple choice test. 

Evaluation method

  • Final classification will take into account:

 

·         Practical classification:

o   Assiduity on log book

o   Information from Tutor

 

·         Multiple choice test including 10 questions from each speciality, including TEAM (10 x 5 = 50 questions)  given on the last rotation day of week 6

 

·         Final classification (0 to 20) will be pondered (30% log book and 70%  for the test.

 

 

·         Together with the exam, the students will be asked to access the teaching quality.
