Objectives

To provide knowledge of Medicine History and to foster the humanistic side of the future physician, who should exercise their profession with a detailed knowledge of its history, so as to better understand their patients and the social context in which they develop their practice.

Teaching method

Theoretical and practical lessons: 2 hours weekly, in a total of 22 lessons.

Seminars: two seminars, occupying 2 hours each, in which associated thematic contents of the Curricular Unit will be adressed.

 

Evaluation method

The Optional Curricular Unit of History of Medicine is a theoretical-practical course with by means of a written test. The evaluation system of the Faculty of Medical Sciences is regulated by the respective Regulation of the Pedagogical Council of the institution.

 

Schedule of evaluations (1st stage and 2nd stage): to be defined.

 

The final test is worth 100% of the final mark. The test is performed without consultation, with duration of 1 hour and aims at verifying the student's knowledge and takes place in the scope of the examinations’ schedule. The student must answer the questions posed, succinctly or developed, according to what is stated in the test.  All tests must be clearly identified with the full name, using use a readable IGNORE.
