Objectives
It is expected that, at the end of this unit, the students demonstrate the following competencies:
· Knowledge of the historical evolution of the main concepts and practices in public health, in the context of the development of the health system in Portugal and in Europe;
· Fundamental Knowledge of the organization of the Portuguese health system
· Develop a useful reference mind map to public health, regarding the contributions of the health sciences toward public health;
Reenforced motivation to contribute the promotion of health in Portugal and in Europe, through a higher level of competence, ability and communication in critical domains towards that goal.

Teaching method
Lecturers, practical sessions and seminars of guidance to the introduction of Public Health, which involve previous preparation of lecturer and students through timed access to bibliographical references, and online resources.
Evaluation method
Continuous assessment (degree and quality of participation in contact teaching): 20%
Written test (short answer): 80%
