Objectivos
This seminar aims at identifying and characterising the main mechanisms associated with chronic inflammation and how they modulate the immune response to induce disease. Furthermore, it intends to analyse the interface between the inflammatory and immune systems in the context of disease.
The ultimate goal of this seminar is to provide the participants with multiple examples of how chronic inflammation can be an important determinant of different manifestations of disease, from orthopaedics to infection diseases, from neurology to oncology and how it can be a major player not only in the pathogenesis of those conditions, but also as a target for potential new treatments.
Furthermore, this approach may suggest new areas for research, both clinical and translational, whilst allowing the students to recognise common points of interest that may provide grounds for future collaboration.
