Teaching method
Learning process occurs within different scenarios consultations, home visits, in primary health care settings, visits to NGOs and in the classroom.
Students should develop a report centered on learning objectives previously defined. The learning cycle will be: theoretical learning through different perspectives and disciplines in classroom, experiential learning interviewing families and visiting health institutions in primary care, evaluation seminars.
1st - Learning objectives will be discussed with students. Afterwards students will elaborate a conceptual map with teachers help and identify the available resources to achieve the targets.
2nd - Tutored self-learning. During this phase students create themes in consultation with the tutor and study a family based on predefined objectives.
3rd - Evaluation meetings will be scheduled to assess targets that were achieved. For that purpose the work carried out will be discussed and learning difficulties will be identified in order to overcome them at a later stage.
The targets for each phase will be presented in a document posted on the website of the Departamento de Medicina Geral e Familiar.
Seminars will be planned during the UC in collaboration with the teachers of the mandatory disciplines in order to consolidate and integrate theoretical knowledge. This optional will run, during a semester, one day a week, in the afternoon or morning periods.
There will be periods of compulsory presence and optional periods where students can choose their time table (schedule) which will depend on the task that was assigned and the availability of the family or of the institution to accept them.
Evaluation method
Oral test focused on analysis and discussion of the portfolio created by the students during the learning process.
