Teaching method

This Curricular Unit involves lectures, theoretical-practical lessons, skills laboratory, Workshops and a practical component, which involves daily student’s participation in clinical and scientific activities of tertiary Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Each student will also participate in the labor ward activities. The relation  teacher /student is 1/3.

·  Lectures:  2 sessions of 60 min (Tuesday 15:00 to 17:00 pm at FCML)

The program of lectures repeats identically in two semesters

Frequency of lectures, although not mandatory, is highly recommended given that an important part of the assessment relates to them.

·  Theoretical-practical lessons: 2 hours long (at CHLC, CHLO, and FCML)

Learning how to obtain a medical history (anamnesis and physical examination), as well as basic procedures in obstetrics and gynecology in skills laboratory. Presentation and discussion of clinical cases seeking the integration of knowledge

·  Workshop: 2 -2,5  hours long (at CHLC, CHLO)

Presentation and discussion by students of topics previously prepared.

Evaluation method

Final classification is in a scale of 0 to 20.

Sixty per cent of this value is obtained from the evaluation on clinical practice following the School assessment for all disciplines, taking into account aspects such as attendance, punctuality, participation, clinical reasoning, level of knowledge and human skills. It will be complemented by an oral presentation and discussion of a clinical history and Logbook. Frequency of at least 2/3 in clinical practice is mandatory,
