Education objectives
1) To develop advanced competences in research and academic communication;
2) To acquire research and critical skills in contemporary topics on education and language learning, with a focus on Portuguese language;
3) To acquire a global understanding of contemporary Education;
4) To acquire strategic skills for the planning of practices in cooperation and development with a focus on lusophone countries;
5) To develop advanced knowledge on problems and conditions for the teaching of second and foreign languages, in multilingual and multicultural contexts;
6) To acquire methodological skills for the usage of analytical, practical and communicative tools in the strategic learning of PSL/PFL;
7) To develop advanced oral and written competences in the field mentioned above;
8) To acquire theoretical and methodological competences for the production of a dissertation within the academic framework.
Access conditions
1) Please refer to n.º 1 do artigo 17 do Decreto-Lei n.º 74 de 24 de Março de 2006. 2) The candidates that comply with the academic and curricular conditions mentioned in 1) will be selected and listed in accordance with the following criteria: a) Grade of BA degree; b) Academic and scientific resume; c) Professional resume; d) Interview when necessary.
Degree pre-requisites
Duration: 3 semesters
Total Number of Credits: 93; 60 in UCs (Curricular Units) + 33 (Dissertation or Work Project or Internship with Report)
Credits in Optional Courses: 20 (the student can follow optional courses choosing from the Graduate offer of FCSH, UNL, or from other national and international Higher Education institutions, contingent on bilateral agreements).

Evaluation rules
1) No specific curricular precedence required. 2) Individual evaluation will take place; to be completed by the end of each semester. It consists of written and, or, oral exams, under conditions proposed by the faculty. The grading is from 0-20. 3) Approval is granted from 10-20. 4) The completion of 60 credits is required before the approval of the dissertation plan. 5) About the evaluation of the dissertation please refer to the official rules of the Masters courses in FCSH.
