Education objectives

The upcoming of the new challenges related to the sustainability of the city, of the urban environment
and of the spatial planning has brought along the need for highly qualified professionals with a specific
education in the area of Sustainable Urbanism, Urban Environment and Spatial Planning.

The Master programme deals with an emerging area with a new job market in the public and the private
sector. Because of its impact on the quality of life of the communities it is, at the same time, an area of
scientific investigation of highest importance.

Access conditions

Title of a university degree or master degree or a legally equivalent degree conferred by an institution of higher education, national or foreign, in areas related to the urban study, the study of sustainability and of spatial planning, such as: environmental engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, civil engineering, sociology, law, geography, transports, economy, history, ecology, biology or other areas to be analysed by the scientific commission of the course.

Degree pre-requisites

Length: 4 semesters: Student must accomplish 120 ECTS.

Evaluation rules

The following means of assessment are used with regard to academic qualifications: 1. Evaluation based solely on an examination or completion of a final project. 2. Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester excluding examination or final project. In these courses students can expect to carry out, for example, laboratory activities, mini-tests, tests, individual or group projects, seminar-related activities, any combination of which will be used to determine the final grade. 3. Evaluation based obligatorily on an examination or a final project. In these courses there extists a form of evaluation similar to one of the aformentioned activities in paragraph 2 as well as a form of evaluation based on a final exam. 4. Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester with the possibility of foregoing an examination or a final project. The Dissertation seminar includes a public presentation, before a Jury, in accordance with legal statutes.
