Objectives
1. Promote the understanding of the specificity of the construction of knowledge in social sciences.
2. Foster an understanding of the interdisciplinary dimension of the construction of knowledge processes.
3. Articulate thematic and methodological Anthropology and Social Sciences.
4. Provide knowledge about the different methods used in social sciences and on the qualitative and quantitative approaches.
5. Develop critical analysis of social sciences methodological strategies that are relevant to anthropological research.
6. Identify and adapt methods and research techniques to different problems and empirical contexts.

Subject matter
1. Antropologia e Ciências Sociais: diálogos interdisciplinares.
2. Globalização, terrenos familiares e interdisciplinaridade: respostas metodológicas e reptos à antropologia contemporânea.
3. Trânsitos metodológicos em Ciências Sociais.
4. Etnografia e a questão do tempo em Antropologia.
4.1. Memória como fonte. Historia oral. Histórias de vida. Etnografia retrospectiva.
4.2. Pesquisa documental. O Arquivo e o documento. Técnicas de recolha e tratamento da informação.
4.3. Investigação antropológica com base documental.
5. Utilização dos inquéritos por questionário.
5.1. Recolha dos dados e estratégias de amostragem. As fontes estatísticas.
6. Usos do método etnográfico em Ciências Sociais e Humanas.
