Objectives
Radio Journalism Workshop aims to show the particularities of Radio journalism, so that by the end of this course, students will:
a) know the particularities of Radio journalism , comparing in it with journalism on the other classical platforms.
b) understand the demands of Radio journalism´s writing: the simplicity of the text and the message; text as a constructive caption of sound;
c) Edit a Radio report using sound edition software;
d) Learn to communicate the message effectively, correcting errors of speech, projecting the voice;
e ) Learn to use all the elements associated with radio that may help transmitting the message such as music and surround sound;
f) be able to submit a 5-7 minute long report with broadcast quality by the end of the semester.

None.
Subject matter
1.Journalistic genres: about report and its particularities.
2.About the essential of sound
3. Promoting students workflow, mainly producing two minutes reports and radio news, emphasizing students participation.
4. Analyzing journalism as a key concept of the public sphere.

Teaching method
Analysis of the particularities of radio journalism (compared to other traditional platforms).
Presentation and discussion of small reports produced by students.
Direct contact with Portuguese Radio journalists.
Monitoring of both theoretical pieces and the report.
Evaluation method
Class Participation and editing at least 2 smaller pieces during the semester (30%).
Preparing a class presentation applying concepts relating to one of 4 main theoretical modules(30%)
Producing a full length report, to be delivered until one month before the end of the semester (40%).
