Objectives
The workshop of cyber journalism, in its general powers, aims to analyze the expansion and impact of the internet on journalistic practice. The course aims to equip students with tools - practical and theoretical enabling them to search and produce information in this new media type, which combines features of the three traditional forms of journalism: press (written), radio and television.
Seeks the once the student is able to:
a) Analyze the environment, their sources, production times and the contents of virtual news
b) develop the skills of analysis, synthesis and organization of information
c) work in news production appropriate to the virtual environment through computer and technological knowledge related to their field of study
d) Develop the ability to work both individually and as a team and critical thinking

1. The internet: cyberspace, cyberculture and cyberlanguage
2. The media in the new medium
3. Applications in investigative journalism
4. The decline of the concept of gatekeeper
5. Digital sources and production routines
6. The impact of social networks on journalism. Web 2.0.
7. The immediacy, interactivity and globalization
8. The digital writing
9. The lead, the body of the news, construction and selection of news, information sources and their reliability
10. The different journalistic production: traditional site, e-paper tablets and i-phones

Teaching method
Students are encouraged to use the Internet as a tool and way of work, while discussing the new challenges that the network communication put to journalism. In class work are presented and produced news stories appropriate to the digital medium.
Evaluation method
Preparation of reports appropriate to the internet with proper monitoring of teachers (20%). Preparation of a report to the newspaper´s digital course- Fora de Linha, in http://www2.fcsh.unl.pt/cadeiras/plataforma/ (max. group of three students) - using written text, audio, video and photography (60%). Performance, attendance and class participation (20%). No exam.
