Objectives
a) To master the meanings of urban space at various scales
b) To understand the diversity and evolution of urban spaces (space and time)
c) To examine the form and structure of urban space
d) To analyze cities, networks and urban systems
e) To Understand the processes and mechanisms for (re) construction of urban space
f) To develop critical thinking about urban indicators (population, buildings and activities)

None.

(1) Urban Geography: evolution and trends. (2) The concept of the city: the criteria for their definition. (3) The processes of urbanization (4) Organization.

Teaching method
Evaluation method
1) The reading a set text, whose contents will be assessed through a written test;
2) Participation in group work : geographical and urban caracterization of an area of Lisbon. The work should not exceed 25 pages.
Final evaluation: written test (50%), work (40%), attendance and participation (10%), equivalent to 60% of attendance in practical classes.
