Objectives
a) To recognize the importance of the interdisciplinary approach in the analysis of the environmental problems; b) To understand the characteristics of environmental degradation and the use of natural resources c) To argue the advantages and disadvantages, of the environment and economic policies, actions and measures; d) To evaluate the effect of the globalization in the state of the Environment and exploration of the natural resources; e) To analyze the Environment in Portugal, as well as the existing natural resources; f) To develop and to apply the knowledge acquired in the diagnosis of environmental questions g) To interpret and analyse a set of articles and data.

Subject matter
1) Introduction to global environmental questions. 2) The geography of the natural resources. 3) The management and use of the natural resources and environmental implications. 4) The Environment in Portugal - diagnostic 5) The use of the natural resources in the Country. 6) Future perspectives.

Participative classes to develop the interaction professor-student, and student-student; research work supervising.
Evaluation method
- Two oral presentations with powerpoint and summary;
- Elaboration of a research work based in field work, bibliography and other information, as a result of autonomous research, with oral presentation and written presentation as a paper and as a poster.
