Identification of fundamental dynamics of the Greek and Roman world

Prerequisites

Subject matter

From the archaic Greek period to the city-states.
The Peloponnesian war.
Philip II, Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic world .
Origins of Rome. The monarchy.
The Republic.
Wars with Carthage.
Mediterranean expansion and transformation of society.
Civil wars. The triumvirates.
The establishment of Empire, administrative mechanisms and political evolution.
The Army.
Political, military and social reforms during the late Empire.
The end of Empire, social evolution and perennity of the Roman culture.
