Objectives
a) Become aware of the wide range of written and unwritten sources mobilized to study the Western Middle Ages and of the main trends of current research on the subject;
b) Develop an effective knowledge of medieval society through an understanding of their political, administrative, social, religious and cultural frameworks;
c) Grasp the outline of the process of affirmation and structure of medieval Europe, between the 5th and 15th centuries;
d) Develop ability to analyze and criticize historical sources foreseeing their scientific use;
e) Develop the capacity of oral and written expression, mobilizing concepts and vocabulary belonging the medieval History

Teaching method
50% of theoretical classes
50% of practical classes: classroom evaluation
Evaluation method
Elaboration of 2 practical tests in the classroom: commentary of a historiographical text or of a historical source (50%), written examination (50%).
The attendance to practical classes is required for the full-time students; absence will lead to a penalization of 5% to 10% in the final individual mark.
