Objectives
a) To face a choice of genres and forms usually not included in the literary Canon.
b) To acquire new knowledge in the literary and literary theory fields.
c) To get acquainted with Portuguese aesthetic and literary XXth century Works, in a worldwide perspective.

0. Marginal Literature 0.1. What about the literary canon? 0.2. Marginal--a deceiving concept. 1. Printed paraliterature. 1.1. Traditional storytelling. 1.2. Policial/science fiction. 1.3. Love matters. 1.4. Humour and satire. 1.5. Comics/Graphic novels. 1.6. Chronicles and other papers. 1.7. The sung Word.
2. Outsourced paraliterature. 2.1. Theater/happening/performance. 2.2. Experimental poetry. 2.3. Book art objects /Mail Art. 2.4. Written cinema. 2.5. Radio/TV. 2.6. The internet and the hypertext.

Teaching method
Attendance is expected. Each subject will have a case study as template. Though not compulsory, participation in class is valued, as well as a work presentation.
Evaluation method
Participation in class and quiz: up to 20%. Exam frequency 40-60%. Essay 40%.
