Subject matter

Based on historical grammar, the study of morphology will focus on nominal inflection (adjectives) and in verbal flexion. In the domain of syntax, we intended to consolidate the functions of cases and progressively develop the study of hypotaxis, in particular the circumstantial and relative sentences (with indicative mood) and the infinitive sentences. The introduction to Lexicology converges to the knowledge of the formation of the words articulated with the story of the Romance languages.
1- Linguistic aspects
a)Phonetic: consolidation of the study started in the first semester; phonetic phenomena: more frequent apophony, vowel assimilation, apocope.
b)Morphology: the nominal inflection: adjectives and their degrees, pronouns and numerals; verbal flexion: notions of aspect and voice; the opposition infectum/perfectum; conclusion of the study of regular verbal flexion in the perfectum theme both in active and passive voices, and the verb sum; the formation of the theme of supine; deponent and semi-deponent verbs; invariable words: consolidation of study done in the previous semester; adverbs and their degrees; the subordinative conjunctions.
c)Syntax: the circumstantial complements (conclusion) and the passive agent; the ablative absolute; the subordinate propositions: temporal, causal, comparative, final, consecutive, concessive sentences; completive propositions: infinitive and conjunctional.

2- Lexicology and semantics: continuation of the study started in the previous semester; the primitive background of Latin vocabulary; the families of words.
3- Analysis and commented translation of original Latin proverbs, maxims and simple texts of Latin authors.
