Objectives
The students should attain level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (Independent user).
They should be able to :
1 - overall understand various types of authentic oral documents (simple sentences)
2 - overall understand various types of authentic short written texts
3 - produce short and simple oral discourses (familiar matters), communicating habits, experiences, feelings and personal opinions, as well as interacting orally in the same situations
4 - write coherent and simple texts (familiar matters), communicating habits, experiences, feelings and personal opinions
5 - develop linguistic, discourse and sociocultural skills necessary to achieve different communicative tasks (level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference).
6 acquire knowledge about Francophone cultures for awareness of interculturality

Subject matter
The course is based around various topics and presents :
1 Listening and reading activities from authentic documents (novels, newspaper articles, TV reports, audio and video recordings)
2 - Written and oral interaction activities : discussions and simulation of authentic oral communication situations.
3 Speaking and writing activities of various types of text (descriptive, narrative, explanatory, argumentative and dialogues).
4 Various activities for the acquisition of grammar and vocabulary necessary to carry out different communicative tasks (level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference)

Teaching method
Communicative method seeking to stimulate interaction and engender increasingly autonomous learning.
Intercultural approach which raises the students awareness of cultural diversity carrying out tasks which draw on linguistic and extra-linguistic competences.
Frequent use of ICT.
Evaluation method
Formative and continuous assessment : 2 written tests (60%) + 1 oral test (20%) + active participation (10%) + homeworks (10%).
