Objectives

a) To acquire basic knowledge of company organization and business activities.
b) To develop translation skills in related subjects.
c) To develop linguistic competence in comprehension of written Spanish and production of written Portuguese.

Prerequisites

Spanish ability equivalent to level A2.2.

Subject matter

Theoretical aspects:
1. Economic, financial and administrative aspects of a company. Human resources management.
2. The importance of translation in business communication.
Practical aspects:
3. Working on tasks to identify lexical, semantic and syntactic difficulties encountered in a variety of business texts.
4. Translation of various kinds of texts related to the different aspects of business activity.

Teaching method

The unit will be taught using a combination of theoretical lectures and practical classes during which the students engage in various research and analysis tasks in order to acquire knowledge about the subjects studied and specific vocabulary.

Evaluation method

Written translations of selected texts, pre-prepared and personally presented in class (60%) and a final written translation test (no consultation allowed) (40%).
