Objectives
a) Acquire specific knowledge on technical and scientific terminology;
b) be able to understand the source text in order to produce a technically and scientifically accurate translation in correct Portuguese;
c) identify and solve the texts terminological and notional difficulties using the available translation tools: glossaries, corpora, parallel texts and specialized dictionaries;
d) understand the need to use neologisms and foreign words, given the non-translatable nature of certain terms;
e) favour the clarity and objectivity characteristics of the informative text.
Prerequisites
French language competence corresponding to level A2.2.

Teaching method
Lectures and seminars, using ICT resources and the Moodle platform, academic databases and existing resources in libraries supporting research.
Evaluation method
Students have to attend 75% of classes.
Portfolio (40%). Proof of attendance (30%). Translation assignment carried out with tutorial guidance focusing on a technical or scientific text (30%).
