Objectives
The learner can
-develop learning skills in order to promote his/her autonomy. This includes abilities to research, reflect on and describe the linguistic and functional systems of Spanish;
-express himself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions;
-formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate his contribution skilfully to those of other speakers;
-develop particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion;
-use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes;
-present clear, detailed descriptions of complex subjects integrating sub-themes, developing particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion.

Subject matter
The following structures of the Spanish are discussed:
-form and uses of past tense: Narrative (oral and written), journalistic writing, literary text;
-form and uses of subjunctive tense: expression of temporality, finality, hopes, indirect speech, objects and spaces identifications;
-sentence structures with relatives;
-specific use of prepositions differing Portuguese language;
Expanding students vocabulary in all registers, including the more popular colloquial expressions.

Teaching method
Approach, methodologies and techniques employed will exemplify aspects of contemporary language teaching and learning practices. In particular, use of pair and group work to cooperate on tasks involving research, reflection, rehearsal, fulfilment and self-evaluation. Initiating and participating effectively in discussion will be actively encouraged.
Evaluation method
Regular contribution during classes will be subject to continuous assessment; students wil carry out four oral tasks throughout the semester and pass a C1 proficiency test at the end of six-month period.
