Objectives

What is proposed in this subject is to re-evaluate another historical line of current affairs mediation: reporting.
The priority proposed here consists of carrying out a great re-evaluation of the reportage genre in contemporary culture, implying an ontological and etymological re-analysis of reporting. A study of the main genealogies of reportage in journalism, literature, optical devices like cinema, photography and television is also proposed. We are studying new research areas which allow for a deeper knowledge of reportage ways and works with particular focus on Portuguese culture.
Students should become able to make critical readings of narrativisation strategies in current affairs. They should also refine their mastering of conceptual tools allowing for an innovative use of modern mediation devices.
