Objectives
a) Learn and practice different skills for communicating science;
b) Learn how to evaluate a communication project (interviews, surveys);
c) Learn about successful science communication projects in Portugal;
d) Become familiar with the research literature in the area of science communication .

None.
Subject matter
Throughout the semester, different experts will be invited to develop (in collaboration with the coordinators) practical workshops for specific skills development considered necessary for science communication. Examples of topics to be covered are listed below:
How to speak in public / drama;
Media training;
Story telling ;
Entrepreneurship (how to finance a science communication project);
New technologies applied to science communication ;
How to plan an exhibit ;
Evaluate events and other communication actions .
In parallel, successful projects in science communication in Portugal (Ciência no Verão, Fame Lab, Cientistas ao Palco) will be presented by their promoters, who will unveil the backstage of these projects. Scientific diffusion book authors may also be invited to give their testimony.
In a journal club format, students will discuss paper published in peer reviewed journals in science communication.

Evaluation will consider the participation in workshops (qualitative evaluation) and the written and oral presentation of a science communication project (quantitative evaluation).
