Objectives
1st. To make use of the skills, knowledge and experience acquired during the first cycle, in order to understand the common problems of Philosophy of Education;
2nd. To develop reflective development processes, based on a detailed knowledge of philosophical systems, in what concerns the problems of philosophical knowledge transmission;
3rd. To reflect on the specific contribute of Philosophy for understanding the current dilemmas of education;
4th. To interpret the philosophical meaning of educational texts;
5th. To develop analysis, critical interpretation, research and communication skills in the framework of the teaching of Philosophy methodologies.
Prerequisites
1 st Cycle.
Subject matter
1. Philosophical attitude, philosophical knowledge and philosophical system: from critical questioning to methodical reflection.
2. The assumptions and modalities of philosophical knowledge transmission in light of the canonical philosophical literature on the teaching of philosophy and its practice.
3. The role of philosophical problematization, knowledge and practice in the general intellectual, personal and social education.
4. The importance of philosophy and its practice for understanding the problems of the present world.
5. The relevance of philosophical teaching and learning in contemporary life: the pertinence of critical, hermeneutic, discursive, reflexive, theoretical, axiological, esthetical and civic competences in todays social, political, cultural and economical reality.

- Participation in seminar activities.
- Presentation and discussion of one of the studied texts.
- Final paper on one of the subjects or authors included in the syllabus (10 to 20 pages), followed by discussion in class.
