Objectives
a)To discuss critically policies and strategies associated with the major theories of development in the late twentieth century;
b)To understand the problems associated with the planning of international development, cooperation and aid;
c)To be able to assess the role of different actors (international agencies, States, private sector and civil society) in the development process;
d)To understand the ethical principles to be followed by professionals in developed countries involved in cooperation for development;
e)To have the ability to participate in development projects in other countries of CPLP;
f)To apply participatory methods in field work in the context of development projects;
g) To develop a research project on a particular aspect of the geography of development.

Teaching method
- Lectures;
- Lab classes: monitoring of the phased implementation of group research papers;
- Discussion, mediated by the lecturer on several topics of the discipline;
- Presentation of multimedia contents and their discussion.
Evaluation method
- Short individual essay on one of the topics taught;
- Development of a research paper (15-20 pages) by up to 2 persons based on field work,
- Oral presentation of the main results of the research paper.
