Objectives

b) In depth knowledge of the mechanisms of (re) construction of urban space
c) To develop theoretical and practical knowledge about the evolution of urban spaces (space and time)
d) To develop capacity for analysis of the shape and structure of urban space
e) To develop critical analysis based on real cases of regeneration
f) To Conceptualize solutions for urban regeneration.

1) Definition, evolution and purpose of urban regeneration.
2) The issue of strategies and partnerships.
3) Urban regeneration and economic sources of funding.
4) The key stages of a process of urban regeneration.
5) The legal framework.
6) The social environment and managing the expectations of the local community.
7) Community participation in urban regeneration processes.
8) Case studies.

Teaching method
The teaching method is based on theoretical and practical classes where emphasis is placed on conceptual explanation and analysis of practical cases. The presentation of Urban Regeneration cases left to the students.
Evaluation method
Each student is required.
1.The reading a set of selected texts, whose contents will be assessed through a written test.
2.Realização an individual work of research on a case of Urban Regeneration. The results presentation will be made both orally and in writing.
- Written test 40%, research work 50%, attendance and participation 10%.
