Objectives
a.To master the theoretical and methodological grounds of the nexu population-sustainable territorial development, including basic concepts, analysis, diagnosis and evaluation;
b.To Realize the importance of population as indigenous resource development and for the identity of the territories;
c.To have the scientific and technical capacity to detect the demographic determinants of territorial competitiveness;
d.To realize the importance of public participation in the processes of territorial management;
e.To evaluate the scientific production and documentation regarding the diagnosis and prospective analysis of the population in the areas of spatial development and planning;
f.To apply methods and techniques of analysis and diagnosis of the situation and dynamics of population, including those of participatory nature, in accordance with the objectives of territorial management instruments;
g.To know how to choose and apply appropriate methods for projections of population dynamics and structures in the planning of mobility, physical and social infrastructures and economic activities in accordance with the objectives of spatial master plans at the various geographical scales.

Subject matter
Basic concepts: population, development and spatial management, resource, demographic sustainability, territorial identity, socio-demographic diagnosis, population projections;
The notion of population as the endogenous resource base of the territory;
Demographic sustainability and territorial cohesion: quantitative and qualitative dimensions of sustainability; depopulation and population aging versus population densification;
Population mobility and spatial management: migration and commuting, their interrelationship and their effects on the territories;
- Population and territorial identity: population dynamics and structures as key elements of the identity of a territory;
- The demographic determinants (growth, composition by age and sex) of human capital development and of competitiveness of the territories;
- The role of human capital (education, vocational training and health of the population) in the development and competitiveness of the territories;
- The participation of the population in spatial planning and management;
- Methodologies for the elaboration of socio-demographic studies as parts of the instruments of spatial development and planning: diagnosis and SWOT analysis;
- Population projections in spatial development and planning: the selection of the appropriate projection method and its implementation in the planning of mobility, physical and social infrastructures and economic activities.

Evaluation method
The writing of an individual research paper (15-20 pages);
Oral presentation of the individual research paper;
