Objectives
a) To provide students with the theoretical knowledge associated with the creation, maintenance and usage of electronic and digital content in archives.
b) To alert students to the several problems related to the maintenance and management of large volumes of information of a digital nature.
c)To explain, with some detail, multiple questions related to digital preservation.
Prerequisites
None.
Subject matter
1. The requirements associated with electronic archives (and their likeness to the traditional ones).
2. What is an Electronic Archive? What makes an archive turn into an electronic one?
3. What, where and how preservation conditions.
4. Databases and related products.
5. Digital Preservation.

Teaching method
Classes will include theoretical discussions around the subject matters, alongside with technology demonstrations and application functionality demonstrations.
Evaluation method
Written examination at the semesters end. Class presence isnt relevant for final evaluation.
