Objectives
a) Reflect on the concept of documentary heritage and relevance of their use; reflect on the concept of library and archive in
the local context;
b) Acquire ability to identify and discuss the archive and library as memory, as social and cultural equipment taking into
account its public and their habits;
c) Have the capacity to produce original analyzes, and write complex texts convey correctly and accessible to diversified
audiences, the results of a research about the Documental Heritage in archive or library;
d)Develop applications and original research on documental heritage in the area of Municipalities, capable of promote the
dissemination of local memory;
e) Acquire the skills required for the management and animation of equipment at the municipal level.

Subject matter
Archive:
- The different types of archivesand their functions;
- Concept of document while heritage: save what, why, where and how: the memory;
- Evolution of the concept of archive, functions and instruments of preservation;
- The municipal archives: characterization of the institution, his mission, goals and collections
Public Library:
- The library: concepts and practice;
- The library as a place of dialogue with the past, but also a place for creativity and innovation;
- The Public Library: history, policy and management;
- The strategic management of the public library in the municipal context;
- The space of the library and its programming: promoting reading, concept, practice and public.

Teaching method
Theoretical sessions of discursive integration with the content taught in the classroom and on topics previously prepared
by students. Practical sessions for discussion of recent theoretical work on the area of archives and libraries.
Evaluation method
Writing performance: development of a test report and a study visit. Oral performance: the presentation of a book in class,
presentation in class the assay.
