Objectives
a) To provide theoretical and practical knowledge relating to a branch of modern museology theme, related to the industrial
heritage and its historical insertion in international reality
b) Develop the problems intrinsic to industrial museology, through analysis and critical discussion of different cases of
museums industrial, technical, science, ecomuseums, rail and mining
c) Encourage the students´ contact with identities related to labor, industry and techniques, ordinary objects into cultural
and educational context
d) Encourage skills and abilities for the creation / production, programming, production management and industrial
museums

Teaching method
Lectures illustrated. Critical discussion of texts and documents previously distributed. Practical lessons in the context of
classroom or field trip. Case studies of museums and industrial spaces or miners. Analysis in the context of practical
classes, objects, industrial, mining and industrial heritage, with watching films relating to specific social and technical
forms of work related to different periods of industrialization. Percentage of 50% practical classes involving guided tours.
Evaluation method
The assessment follows the presentation and discussion of three individual papers: a study of industrial objects related
collections (30%), developing a theme other industrial or mining related to the program (50%) and also a report on a visit to
an industrial museum (20%).
