Objectives
One. Objectives Knowledge: In depth knowledge on the subject of collecting the diversity of their approaches; meet great
collections and collectors in Portugal, linking them with the history of art museums in Portugal, with the art production and
art history.
2nd. Skills: Develop a critical sense, the ability to analyze and reflect on the history of collections and art museums in
Portugal. Generate own opinion and express it on concrete cases and their implications. Adopt the features of
interdisciplinarity between art history and museology.
3rd. Skills: elect a subject of study, according to their own interests or the suggestions of the teacher, and to bring it with
rigorous methodologies of academic work

The contents of this UC option are not constant. Annually, Professor elect its themes and subthemes, according to ongoing
research in the Research Line ´Museum Studies´ Institute of History of Art, both in projects of doctoral and post-doc or

Seminar
work with each student or small groups, with the aim of stimulating the development of the research topic that will be
evaluated. Sharing knowledge and disciplinary specificities, taking into account that, desirably, the UC will be attended by
students from different disciplinary domains.
