Objectives
a) Present and characterize the main areas of research in Information Science
b) Present the steps and methods of scientific research necessary for the completion of a dissertation (or similar)
c) Develop specialized skills in information literacy
d) To prepare students for the selection and registration of a master thesis (or similar)
e) Teaching to prepare and write a chapter of \"state of the art\"
f) Promote best practices of scientific research based on theoretical, technical and ethical criteria.

Teaching method
The seminar will be developed through classroom lectures (theoretical and practical), with autonomous student work shared and discuss in class and tutorials.
Evaluation method
The evaluation will be based on the presentation of two exercises weighted as follows:
1) Draft of the \"componente não-lectiva\" registration (30%)
2) Draft of the chapter \"State of the art\" (70%)
