Objectives

1. To understand the importance of timeliness and context in the study of information and its form of archival preservation.
2. To master the concepts and the theoretical tradition of social history.
3. To master the concepts and disciplinary tradition of Archival Science / Information Science.
4. To apprehend diachronically information and files.
5. To learn to find sources for a social history information and archives
6. To master the techniques of developing a research work in social history information and archives

Teaching method

The seminar will be developed through classroom lessons and independent work of students, supervised by individual tutorials.
- The classes will have a theoretical and practical nature, being constituted by moments of theoretical exposition of themes, concepts, practical exercises, oral presentations and discussions participated by students.
- The independent student work should complement and deepen the knowledge transmitted in the classroom, promoting their independent learning

Evaluation method

The evaluation will be based on the following weighting:
- Presentation and discussion of a theoretical or historiographical (single) text - 50%
- Elaboration of a research project on information / files in historical context (individual) (50%).
