Objectives

a) Capacity to design and build an innovative project of worth to the respective institutions managing historical gardens and natural parks.
b) Ability to deploy in the internship the knowledge acquired during the theoretical post-graduate courses on Gardens and Landscape with originality, pragmatism and quality.
c) To demonstrate initiative, sociability and a positive attitude towards work, keeping not only scheduls and deadlines but also the previously defined goals.

Subject matter

This course incorporates a internship during which the student designs and produces an individual project related to the place of training, for example, map-making through digital carthography aoftware applications as well as geographic information systems; drafting inventories of garden or natural park located works of art and other objects; carrying out cultural engagement programs fostering the development of tourism or evaluating and researching the landscape.
Student options available include internships in settings such as the Palácio Nacional de Queluz, the Fundação da Casa Fronteira e Alorna, Quinta da Regaleira, Parque do Palácio do Monteiro-mor, Quinta Real de Caxias, Quinta do Marquês de Pombal em Oeiras, Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua (Parque de Monserrate e Parque da Pena), Reserva Natural do Estuário do Tejo, among others.

Teaching method

Undertaking the internship providing the student with the opportunity to gain practical learning in a working environment while tutorial supervision in addition to project related training with both the student’s attitude and performance taken into consideration.

Evaluation method

Evaluation is based on the internship grade (50%) and the project grade (50%).
