Objectives

It is intended that at the end of the course the student demonstrate:
a) Knowledge and critical understanding of the concept of Sustainable Development;
b) Ability to research and critically reflect on the development issues involved in the concept of sustainability;
c) Reflect on indicators of sustainable development;
d) Ability to analyze critically the policies and commitments to promote sustainable development at different scales - from local to global;
e) Ability to reflect on the socio-economic, cultural and environmental aspects of ecotourism.
f) skills to apply this knowledge in the writing, presentation and discussion of their research work.

Teaching method

Expositive class of theoretical concepts combined with thematic discussions by the students on specific topics agreed with the teacher. Some sessions will have guests who may be academics, members of NGOs or journalists, among others and students are expected to participate actively.

Evaluation method

Individual written work (70%), oral presentation and participation in class discussion (30%).
