Objectives
a) To understand the main contemporary issues of South America;
b) To identify and understand the main actors, structures, processes and constraints involved in the strategies of international integration of South American countries;
c) To develop the skill to critically comprehend these issues through the analysis of case studies;
d) To understand the political and economic trends of the various countries of the region and to analyse them under a historical comparative perspective.

Teaching method
The curricular unity blends theoretical and practical methods, through combining lectures on the main topics with practical classes for the presentation and discussion of readings. This
methodology aims to give students the theoretical tools necessary for the analysis and evaluation of core aspects of South-American countries.
