Objectives

a) Ability to discuss key concepts related to the global circulation of migrants and their organization;
b) Ability to formulate research proposals on multi-ethnic cities;
c) Ability to advise political and administrative bodies in policymaking regarding intervention.

Teaching method

Lectures introducing the major topics of the course, and presentation and discussion of selected readings by the students. A study visit to the Martim Moniz, the most multicultural area in Lisbon.

Evaluation method

1. Term paper (70%), either a review article or an empirical study. Papers are presented and discussed during the last sessions of the curricular unit
2. Attendance, participation and presentations in class (30%).
