Subject matter
The course focuses on literary reinvention phenomenon as part of literary creation itself. It studies creative and recreative practices of classical fabula developed in Portuguese until the end of 20th century, in the context of other European cultures. For this purpose, Portuguese and Brazilian fabulários are considered as well as the reinvention of canonical authors, such as Sá de Miranda, Francisco Manuel de Melo, Bocage and Almeida Garrett, a. o.. The relationship between creative and epochal poetic practices is analyzed and the axiological transformations of fabulas themes are deepened. The course develops a critical analysis of the rhetorical and/or poetic framework for themes renovation ant the auto-reflexivity that accompanied it. It concludes by discussing the purpose of continuous literary reinvention, showing new perspectives to be studied.

Teaching method
The course assumes an expositive strategy, based on theoretical and critical contributions about the genre studied and considering the auto-reflexivity that is part of creative practices. However, the programmatic improvement foresees students active participation. They receive instructions concerning theoretical and literary texts to be discussed and commented during the classes and their presentation in class is previously scheduled and accompanied through tutorial support.
Evaluation method
Final assessment includes students participation, the written version of a research work and its oral presentation.
