Objectives
Objectives
a) Acquire preliminary knowledge on the foundational narratives of selected works of Latin American literature and their role in the identity constructions of the respective nationalities.
b) Increase knowledge regarding different contexts that determine those constructions.
c) Study the proposed texts to prepare a personal investigation.
d) Acquire knowledge of critical bibliography on the subjects studied.
e) Produce works of textual analysis and theoretical refle
f) To produce na autonomous research project and a research paper, which will be presented and debated orally.
Prerequisites
Average level of knowledge of Spanish language.

Foundational Narratives and Identity Constructions
1. Comparative Literature: history, theory and methods.
2. The role of Latin American literatures in (re)construction of identities.
3. Language and national cultures.
4. (Short) Story, Memory and Narration.

Teaching method
Método de avaliação.Apresentações orais, nos seminários, de leituras e de resultados de investigações em torno dos objectivos do seminário e a sua discussão em grupo (40%); apresentação escrita e discussão oral de um trabalho final, individual, incluindo bibliografia (de 12 a 15 páginas), cujo projecto e elaboração são orientados pela docente (60%). Assiduidade obrigatória a 75% dos seminário, mínimo.
Evaluation method
Evaluation method. Oral presentations, during seminars, of readings and research results regarding the objectives of the seminar and their discussion by the group (40%), oral discussion and written presentation of a final, individual work including bibliography (12 to 15 pages), whose design and preparation are indicated by the teacher (60%). A minimum of 75% attendance at seminars is mandatory.
