Objectives
a) To explore the aims of teaching Classical Languages, linking it with the objectives of Secondary School teaching in the Portuguese educational system;
b) To find a balance between the methods of teaching to meet the needs of the Secondary School curriculum and the new technologies and the most recent pedagogical perspectives;
c) To engage with particular aspects of the teaching of Latin and Greek, especially with reference to the teaching of grammar and vocabulary, as well as the techniques of textual analysis and translation;
d) To prepare lesson plans within the disciplines.

Subject matter
1. The curriculum of Latin and Greek in Secondary Education;
2. Problematics of the initiation to Classical Languages teaching methods and techniques; motivation;
3. Teaching/learning of grammar;
4. Teaching/learning of vocabulary;
5. Problematics of reading and translating Greek and Latin texts;
6. The classroom planning and the evaluation of the teaching/learning process.

Teaching method
Each section of the programme will be presented by lecture. Learning will take place through research projects and written essays.
