Objectives
1. Analyze the contribution of anthropology to the study of educational processes;
2. Develop the ability to analyze the cultural processes of teaching / learning;
3. Develop the capacity for analysis and evaluation of the dynamics present in the school education system and the
relationship between school and society.
4. Develop methodologic skills in the field of Anthropology of Education.

Subject matter
1. History of Anthropology of Education and the development of this subdiscipline in Portugal.
2. Contexts and processes of teaching / learning and the non-school transmission of culture.
3. An anthropological debate - cultures and epistemologies of childhood?
4. The ethnography of the school. Methodological tools for research in schools.
5. Literacy and orality as forms of social organization of thought.
6. Multiculturalism, interculturalism and the role of the anthropologist as mediator.
