Objectives
The intention is that students to acquire the following skills:
1) Understanding of the classical concepts of human ecology and new concepts such as sustainability and
resilience.
2) Capacity for critical analysis of the major theoretical perspectives of ecology and human ecology of the last
century.
3) Capacity for critical understanding of the role of technology and environmental policies.
4) Competency to search, select and deepen a research topic on the interdependencies between social
systems and natural systems.

Teaching method
A theoretical essay in human ecology and state of the art on a specific topic to be chosen by the student with the view to studying the interdependencies between social and natural systems.
Students will be asked to deliver the written text and an oral communication in the classroom.
