Objectives
Training researchers in Translation Studies by means of the acquisition of research techniques, according to
each students research topic and study object.
Prerequisites
Subject matter
1. Developing a Research Plan based on an initial idea.
2. Kinds of research in Translation Studies.
3. Main areas and sources of bibliographical information in Translation Studies.
4. Questions, claims and hypotheses in Translation Studies.
5. Variables and relations between variables.
6. Data selection and analysis.
7. Structuring a table of contents.
8. Structuring an abstract/paper proposal.
Bibliography
A selecção de bibliografia dependerá dos projectos em curso.
The selection of bibliography will depend on each students research project.
Teaching method
Teaching methods shall be customized, as much as possible, so as to train, exercise and test the research
skills needed to write a PhD dissertation. Students will be frequently required to make oral and written
presentations on the different items in the syllabus.
