Objectives

a) To understand the main themes of the History of Painting in Portugal during this period;
b) To identify the latest issues on the subject;
c) To contact directly with the main pictorial groups existing in museums and monuments of the national heritage;
d) To develop the knowledge about paintings through the results of laboratory analyses;
e) To develop a research paper on the subject during the semester.

Teaching method

The development of theoretical classes will be accompanied not only by slideshow presentations, but also by visits, when appropriate, to the museums and the main monuments which house the most significant heritage of painting of this period. The use of Moodle classroom will be instrumental to enlarge the pedagogical possibilities of interaction between teacher and students. It will also be given individual support to develop research within the monograph.

Evaluation method

Assessment consists of a written test and the development of an individual research monograph/ work.
