Objectives
1. To analyse the relationship between the public and the media, in its diverse formats.
2. To contextualize the way by which media receivers are envisioned by communication theories.
3. To analyse the concept of public, as opposed or similar to other concepts, as well as to examine the way by which the media, particularly journalism, view their audiences.
4. To make a general approach to reception studies, by examining and discussing empirical researches that integrate this field of research.

Teaching method
Oral exposition of the curricular units contents and discussion of texts that will be provided at the beginning of the seminar. Tutoring of the written individual essays/works that will be presented by students.
Evaluation method
Active involvement of students in the sessions will be taken into account, as well as written text reviews (and its oral presentation) from the bibliography (30%). Written individual essay, either theoretical or practical (70%), related to one of the contents of the curriculum unit and suited to the personal interests and purposes of each student.
