Objectives
Characterize the communication issue of judicial institutions inside of external communication.
Understanding the need for convergence of judicial institutions and their narratives to
media communication devices of postmodernity.
Acquire communication in the light of organizational ontology of the judiciary powers.
Design a plan of re-construction of identity and re-creation of meaning (\"sensemaking\"), alleging
active legitimation strategy for the field of justice.
Validate under critical examination, the two axes of reflection proposed - \"From Justice to Media\" and \"Justice through Media - the field of justice, identity of their hyper-formal, complex and vulnerable institutions, to meet processes of legitimation and \"sensemaking\" media narrative strategy in public space, and the return of the mobilization potential of the field of the media in the public sphere, to a new paradigm of communication, transparency and democracy.

Subject matter
Topics: I. Freedom of expression and press freedom: function and limits, given the guarantee of judicial impartiality, especially in the CEDH and CRP. II. Justice and communication: role of the management bodies of the judiciary in judicial construction of identity and the formation of public opinion; official sources and anonymous sources; constitutional dimension of the advertising of the process; submission of justice to public opinion.
III. Judges and Journalists: status of judges and prosecutors; reserve duty and Press Offices; \"media training\" of magistrates and judicial journalism. IV. The crime in the media: the constitutional dimension of judicial secrecy; reported in the PGR investigation subject to judicial secrecy; \"Parallel judgments\"; spectacularization in television coverage; news and reportage. V. The public opinion and its limits; regulation of the media and self-regulation; media law and code of ethics; civil and criminal protection.

Teaching method
Expositive lessons: theoretical framework; 3 practical classes in both axes \"From Justice to Media\" and \"Justice through Media\"; a lesson about methodology applied to the project / dissertation; Two \"open class\" with invited magistrates, lawyers and journalists; 5 lessons for research project, debate and synthesis, with reference to the five thematic areas outlined in the syllabus; Two classes of study cases; more classes for consolidation and synthesis of topics.
Oral Project Presentation, discussion and synthesis: Individual research projects are preliminarily presented in class (30 minutes of individual exposure), with debate and critical discussion with peers and teachers;
Project: The projects benefiting from discussion in class, take the format of \"paper\" (article intended for publication in a specialized journal), including abstract (summary), keywords (key concepts), index and bibliography.
Evaluation method
Preliminary oral presentation of the project (30%) and written project (70%).
Continuous assessment is positively valued for the quantity and quality of interventions in session (in addition to the oral presentation of the project), weighting 2 values (maximum).
