Objectives
a) To describe the grammars of languages on the basis of speakers implicit and explicit knowledge.
b) To identify the mechanisms of analysis necessary for the description of the grammars of languages.
c) To integrate the different theoretical models for linguistic analysis into the description of languages.
d) To validate, with recourse to empirical data, the concepts of grammaticality, ungrammaticality and acceptability in the production and comprehension of language sequences.

Teaching method
The seminar includes expository classes, but also practical work, involving the comparison between different grammars and descriptive works, and data analysis, that enables the student to draw conclusions, make descriptive generalizations, and develop argumentation skills.
Evaluation method
The evaluation will be based on: i) a review of a book or book chapter (20%); ii) exercises and problem solving work (40%); iii) a written final exam (40%).
