Objectives
a) Analyse and evaluate current environmental issues
b) Understanding the diversity, complexity and interconnection of environmental issues
c) Identify the factors that contribute to the change on the environmental conditions in the Planet
d) Understand the relevance of climate change on the environment, and its consequences
e) Assess the environmental policies that contribute to nature conservation and mitigation of environmental problems at different scales
f) Recognizing the importance of evaluating the the natural resources in the territory dynamics
g) Analyse the type of effects, resulting from the use of endogenous natural resources
h) Integrate the knowledge of the environment and natural resources in land management
Prerequisites
None.
Subject matter
This seminar aims to demonstrate the close connection between the use of natural resources and the emergence of today´s environmental
problems. In this context, will be subject of analysis and discussion topics such as:
a) The interference of human activities on the environment and their consequences globally;
b) Current scenarios for climate change and its impacts on society;
c) Sustainable use of natural resources;
d) Disputes over ownership of natural resources and future prospects;
e) National and international mechanisms for mitigation and resolution of contemporary environmental problems.
