Education objectives
The main objectives of this 3rd Cycle of Studies, leading to a PhD degree in Bioengineering, is to ensure that a holder of this degree is endowed with the following capabilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of a branch of knowledge or a specialty of Bioengineering.
- Has acquired, through the components of the course work and PhD research developed for the preparation of their thesis, expertise, skills and research methods related to bioengineering, in its various aspects;
- Ability to design, deploy, adapt and carry out research respecting high standards of academic quality and integrity;
- Having performed a significant amount of original research that has contributed to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge, some of which deserve the international dissemination in publications with the selection committee;
- Being able to critically analyze, evaluate and synthesise new and complex ideas;
- Being able to communicate with their peers, the academic community and society at large over the area of specialization;
- Being able to, in a knowledge-based society, to promote the academic or professional, technological progress, social or cultural.
