Objectives

The Ecological Economics course intends that students acquire the following skills:

- Understand the vision, approach and the central concepts of ecological economics and its relevance to the practice of environmental engineering, in particular the interactions between ecological, economic and social systems;

- Integrate the economic approach with other approaches to identify, formulate, analyze and eliminate/mitigate environmental problems;

- Understand the differences to the environmental economics approach;

- Develop the assessment and sustainable management of natural resources;

- Interpret and evaluate indicators and paths of economic growth and sustainability;

- Understand the relationship between the environment, international trade and competitiveness;

- Consolidate and strengthen the capacity for the design and implementation of environmental policy instruments;

- Work in multidisciplinary teams and to be autonomous in the research and analysis of information.
